Almay Healthy Glow Makeup + Self Tan • Almay • $14.99
Is it worth the splurge?
$14.99 is pretty pricey for a drugstore product, right? I thought so too. That’s why I made the purchase and decided to write a review to let you guys know if it is a hit or miss and if it’s worth the money!
Packaging:
The packaging is really nice. When you take the top off, it has a dual sided pump. One side is the makeup, and one side is the self tanner. This is how it looks when you press the pump..
What it claims to do:
It is a hypoallergenic makeup + gradual self tan with SPF 20, which is pretty amazing! It is supposed to give medium coverage and is also supposed to perfect the skin while you wear it. It claims to give a natural glow after removal. Low to no odor, no streaks, and natural looking color-not orange.
What I think about it:
I put this product to the test 4 different times over the past week. I wore it once while lounging around the house, once while I was outside in the heat during daytime, once at night in the humidity, and now again today while I write this review.
My skin is very pale since I don’t tan in the sun or tanning bed, so I self-tan twice a week with the Fake Bake Flawless Self-Tanning Liquid & Professional Mitt • Fake Bake • $26.50 . I love the Fake Bake for my body, but I never put any self-tanner on my face because my skin is very sensitive and every time I tried applying to my face, it broke me out. When I saw this product on the shelves at Walmart, I was pretty thrilled. I loved that it was hypoallergenic, because I thought maybe I had found a product that would tan my face without breaking me out. I purchased the light/medium shade. I noticed that after I applied it, it continued to get darker throughout the day, which is what it claims to do. I was very impressed. I recommend getting a shade lighter than your skin, because it does gradually get darker. The color was neutral when I first applied it, and then it turned into a beautiful, glowy tan.
The consistency isn’t super thick, but it isn’t really thin either. It is a medium coverage. Nothing too thick or too heavy. It actually feels really good on my skin. I can barely feel it which is great, especially during the summer. It holds up very well in the heat and humidity. I feel like it smooths out my pores and imperfections. I have oily skin, and it works well for me. It doesn’t get shiny or oily. It is mainly just glowy. I think it will work for all skin types. You’re supposed to wear it daily to develop the color and the glow. When I remove it, I can see that it leaves a glow and a tint of color. It isn’t like a deep dark tan, but it is a healthy glow that is very pretty.
It does say little to no odor. To me, the smell is a little strong, but I personally love it. Some people don’t like strongly scented products though. If you’re one of those people, I would still give it a try to just see if you can tolerate it. It is totally worth it if you can get past the smell!
I LOVE that it has SPF. I’m getting a daily moisturizer, SPF, self-tanner, and a good coverage makeup, all from one product. This allows you to skip several steps in your morning routine which is amazing. You can wear this under your foundation if you’d like. I am going to test that out and let you know how it works!
It is hypoallergenic and I haven’t had any breakouts from this product. So if you have sensitive skin like I do, this will be a miracle product for you.
Do you used the foundation and the self tanner part together and apply it to the face? I

Yes, it’s a 2-in-1 so once it comes out of the dispenser, you can mix it together in your hand and then apply. The makeup and self-tanner comes out seperately, but you are supposed to mix it together before application. 🙂

I think product is a pretty good self tanner as well! One of the better products from the drug store 🙂 http://www.selftanning.com/almay-healthy-glow-review/
